Last month we talked about Libra and Lapis Lazuli. This month we will be discussing Scorpio and Citrine.
Scorpio is from October 23rd – November 21st.
Scorpio is known for being resilient and hardworking, to the point of burning out. Scorpios are also very intuitive and creative. Another common trait they have is their ability to express deep and honest emotions. Once they trust you, which will take some time, they will defend and love you with their entire heart. And on the flip side, when they feel betrayed, it will feel like a physical blow. As a water sign, the ability to feel both love and anger at such high levels can be overwhelming.
Due to their deep emotions and ability to act just as fiercely a scorpion is the perfect match for this zodiac sign. In Latin Scorpio also known as “Scorpius” not only translates to Scorpio but is also said to mean, “creature with the burning sting.”
Scorpions are seen all throughout history as strong symbols of evil and protection against greater evil, as depicted in Muslin Folklore. They are also known as symbols of transformation, independence, solitude, and intelligence. However, on the flip side they are represented by death, rebirth, power, lust, and fertility.
In Egypt the scorpion is a symbol of Serqet, the goddess who protected the body and viscera of the dead. She accompanies them on their journey to the afterlife as a fierce protector and gentle guiding hand.
Finally, Scorpio is seen in the Greek myth of Orion and the scorpion. Orion proclaimed he would kill every creature the goddess created due to his strength as the great hunter. To stop him the goddess Artemis and her mother Leto unleashed a great scorpion to defeat him. Zeus placed Orion in the stars as a reminder to all humankind to not be so prideful. To this day when Scorpio appears in the sky during summer, Orion will vanish altogether until the winter. Too afraid to ever cross paths with the zodiac, again.
With all the emotions Scorpios feel it only makes sense to pair this zodiac with the crystal Citrine. The crystal is known for its stunning brilliance and reminder of warmer days. Citrine is also a great crystal to have due to its ability to remove negative energy and prompt self-growth. It also promotes one to heal after traumatic events, no matter how small. Especially during a time of change.
